Winter-Spring 2024 Summer 2024 Fall 2023 Math Labs

How to Raise a Math Person (Parent Workshop)

For parents of 5th-10th graders
A 3-hour workshop

This workshop will give you the tools you need to help your children learn to think mathematically and learn the language of mathematics — algebra. You will learn ten simple keys to success for middle and upper school math, and you need not be mathematically inclined to benefit from the workshop. You will learn how to help your children when they get stuck while doing their homework, how to check whether your children have thoroughly completed their homework, how to teach them good test-taking habits, and, most important for the long run, how to foster in your children the algebraic way of thinking. During the workshop, we will work through the main points of Mark Ryan's book, The 10 Habits of Highly Successful Math Students.
