About Mark Ryan

After graduating from Brown University and the University of Wisconsin Law School, Mr. Ryan practiced law for four years. Since 1989 he's been teaching math to junior high and high school students, covering everything from pre-algebra through calculus, statistics, and PSAT, SAT, and ACT prep. In 1997, he opened The Math Center in Winnetka where he runs high school math programs and workshops for parent groups about how to help their children succeed in math.

Ryan has a gift for explaining math in plain English, and he brings math down to earth in a way that often makes students say things like, "This is so easy; why wasn't this explained to me like this in school?" Ryan has a natural passion for motivating and inspiring others to learn, and he has a knack for showing students that they have more talent for math than they had realized - that things they find difficult are really easier than they had thought. He has an infectious love of math and is an animated and effective teacher.

Mark Ryan is a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the Chicago Chapter of the American Society for Training & Development, and the Authors Guild.

All courses at The Math Center are taught by Mark Ryan.
